Wat Phanan Choeng - Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya

Located at the south of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya. One of the most revered by the inhabitant around Ayutthaya. It long before Ayutthaya was founded as the capital. The 57 feet tall large gilded Buddha image in the Wihan called "Phrachao Phanan cheong" was built in 1325 AD. It was made of stucco in the attitude of subduing evil. A popular myth says tears flowed from the eyes of the Buddha when Ayutthaya was sacked by Burmese.
