The Erawan Shrine or Thao Phra Mahaprom Shrine - Bangkok

The Erawan Shrine was built in 1956 as Erawan Hotel to eliminate the bad karma believed caused by laying the foundations on the wrong date. To be corrected by building a Shrine of The Thao Maha Brahma and a spirit house in the area of the hotel. The Image was a sculpture in paster cover with gold leaf. And a worship ceremony of the image has been held on the 9 November of every year.
In 26 March 2006, the shrine was vandalised by a Thai man believed to be mentally ill. He smashed the statue in to pieces, left only the part of the lap and base of the statue.
The new Brahma statue was placed in the shrine on 21 May 2006.
